At home since the days of Covid, our lives had become fairly sedentary. Working remotely meant the only steps I typically got were from walking downstairs for a cup of coffee, and even school pick-up was a drive-through.
But the minute we arrive in a new place, our step counter goes off the chart! Singapore proved to be a great place to sweat off calories through the simplest form of exercise: walking. 17,741 steps across Sentosa to see hammerhead sharks, explore tide pools, and learn about all the types of jellyfish at the Oceanarium, yes please! Another 11,463 steps experiencing teamLab and exploring Gardens by the Bay, sign me up! Even while taking the fantastic Singapore MRT, we managed to rack up the kilometers as we explored all that the city had to offer.
I can’t count how many steps we took each time we passed the woman who had set up a roadside beauty shop near our hotel in Singapore. She consistently saw me as a gold mine for mole removal services – IYKYK. By the end of our 5 days, we decided to take a few extra steps to avoid her 😉
Our daughter has been excited to track her steps too, so we recently gave her a watch for her birthday that allows her to track her steps, stay connected with friends, and helps us know her location. Anything that keeps her moving is a win, win!
