We took Hazel to teamLab Future World at Singapore’s ArtScience Museum. Here’s her honest take for anyone visiting teamLab Singapore with kids.
Singapore is a very nice place… when you are in air conditioning! Outside it can feel like you are in 1,000 degrees Fahrenheit, but yet again I have to admit Singapore was a very nice city!
The first day we were there we did something called teamLab Future World. It is a pretty cool art installation. There are several spread out all over the world. For example, in one of our previous travels we went to Tokyo and did a teamLab there too. I personally liked the teamLab in Tokyo better because there was a lot of water that you could walk through and in my opinion better illusions.

Inside teamLab Singapore, we saw a really cool flower illusion where there was a melting flower and then it would grow again very slowly, and it was the same flower but it was still cool. Next, we saw a little tunnel, so my dad and I crawled through it. We came out in a room where there were these little things like elves and they were on a screen. Not one of those mascots, thank goodness, I really don’t like mascots! Anyway you could make things happen using brushes and erasers. You could also use your finger, but someone who worked there stopped me to say that it stretched out the screen, so I had to stop doing that.

Next we spent maybe 20 minutes drawing sea life that would come to life around you on a screen. I drew a jellyfish and a sea urchin, and my mom drew a seahorse, and my dad drew a wonky turtle (he’s not the artist in the family, I am.) Then we finally had to get going to the next exhibit, and that happened to be another exhibit where you draw things and they come to life, but this time it wasn’t sea life, it was things that could fly.
There was also a climbing thing, and normally I am not into climbing things but this one was fun. The exhibit after that was an airplane throwing activity with cool lasers, but I wasn’t into that, so we moved on to the next one.
When we got to the next exhibit, it was a room full of those dangly light things and they made you feel as if you were falling. I got really dizzy and lightheaded, so we had to keep moving. So we sadly left the cool air conditioning to start our hot walk to the Supertrees.

Parent Notes
- Where: ArtScience Museum, Marina Bay Sands (6 Bayfront Avenue). Nearest MRT is Bayfront, Exit D.
- Tickets: book online in advance for a specific date and timeslot.
- Best time: Monday to Thursday is cheaper and typically quieter. We visited on a Wednesday and it was not too busy.
- How long: we spent about 1.5 – 2 hours there.
- Strollers: not allowed inside, so plan for a carrier or walking.
- Heads up: the room of hanging lights towards the end made Hazel dizzy. Look out for it if your child is sensitive to motion.
- Make a day of it: the museum also hosts rotating exhibits we didn’t have time for. Marina Bay Sands is next door, and the Supertrees at Gardens by the Bay are a short (and hot) walk away.
- Before you go: confirm hours, prices, and rules on the museum’s official site.

Hazel-this looks like a cool place! It reminds me of Hopscotch in Portland. Have you been there?
I am so happy to read about your adventure. Can’t wait to see more!
Thank you Miss Jasso! I have been to hopscotch and I thought it was pretty cool. It was a similar experience
